SOUL is proud to support the racing endeavors of professional racer, Michael McCarthy, both on and off the track as he fights against cancer!
2021 was the first year of the Porsche Sprint Challenge North America and was set up to be a feeder program into Carrera Cup and part of the Porsche racing pyramid program. Over 7 rounds of racing he accumulated 11 poles, 11 wins, two 2nds and one 3rd and was crowned North American Champion at the season finale in Indy. He also raced for Kelly Moss Road and Race in a Platinum class 991.2 factory cup car.
- Started karting at age 7
- Started racing nationally at age 10
- Went to Europe at age 13 to contest in the Rotax Euro Challenge
- At 17 he won the US National title for Rotax DD2
- Went on to race the world finals in Portugal for team USA in DD2
- First IMSA race was for Audi/FastMD TCR at Sebring finishing 5th (and then Covid hit…)
In addition to a stellar season he was very fortunate to have received sponsorship support from MPT (Medical Properties Trust), Children’s Hospital of Alabama, and the Racing for Children’s program. The intent is to raise money for the Charity (Racing for Children’s) as 100% of every dollar donated goes to support research and support for pediatric cancer. You may have noticed hand prints on his race car – they’re actually hand prints of the kids that are receiving treatment! Over the course of the year Michael himself collected over $20,000 for the charity.
We’ve been outfitting Michael’s personal cars for a long time – including his current 992 Carrera 4S with SOUL Cat Bypass Pipes!
For 2022, McCarthy will continue to work with RFC and has moved up into the 992 Cup platform where he will race the entire season in Carrera Cup. The goal is to fight for top 10 finishes and possibly a podium and then onto a championship in 2023!
