2021 was the first year of the Porsche Sprint Challenge North America and was set up to be a feeder program into Carrera Cup and part of the Porsche racing pyramid program. Over 7 rounds of racing he accumulated 11 poles, 11 wins, two 2nds and one 3rd and was crowned North American Champion at the season finale in Indy. He also raced for Kelly Moss Road and Race in a Platinum class 991.2 factory cup car.
- Started karting at age 7
- Started racing nationally at age 10
- Went to Europe at age 13 to contest in the Rotax Euro Challenge
- At 17 he won the US National title for Rotax DD2
- Went on to race the world finals in Portugal for team USA in DD2
- First IMSA race was for Audi/FastMD TCR at Sebring finishing 5th (and then Covid hit…)
We’ve been outfitting Michael’s personal cars for a long time – including his current 992 Carrera 4S with SOUL Cat Bypass Pipes!
For 2022, McCarthy will continue to work with RFC and has moved up into the 992 Cup platform where he will race the entire season in Carrera Cup. The goal is to fight for top 10 finishes and possibly a podium and then onto a championship in 2023!
