Hello! My name is Tom Tang and I have been building and racing touring cars for over 15+ years now. Like many, I started out with Hondas and eventually made my way to BMWs. I’ve raced everything from Spec Miata, to Super Touring cars, to the 25 Hours of Thunderhill, and the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Outside of racing, I have always been a huge Porsche enthusiast and most recently owned a 991 GT3 (also in white).
I’m very lucky in that I get to call the San Francisco Bay Area in California my home. As someone who loves to cycle, hike, and be outdoors it’s the perfect place to live. It also means that I have access to some amazing local race tracks, like Laguna Seca, Sonoma, and Thunderhill– places where I enjoy driving my 2025 992 GT3RS hard, a car that I was able to spec out myself after getting an allocation back in 2024. I’m honored to be partnering with John, Mike, and the team at Soul Performance.

EXHAUST / ENGINE / POWER
- SOUL Performance Exhaust System with 4” slashed satin finish tips – I love the optionality that the valved Soul Performance exhaust provides. With the valves closed, I don’t piss off my neighbors, and there’s no drone or rasp when driving normally. When I want to turn it up a notch, with the valves open the car absolutely roars and screams to 9,000 RPM. I love it! It sounds so good.
- SOUL Street Headers – After running the exhaust for a while, I decided to add even more performance by swapping the OEM headers out for some Soul headers and wow. I didn’t think it was possible to love how my 992 GT3RS sounded– but I was wrong. It’s an absolute howling animal now, reminiscent of Porsche factory GT3 race cars but still civil enough on the road when it needs to be (valves closed) and doesn’t get me in trouble emissions wise. Honestly, the complete exhaust system with headers was the best bang for the buck in terms of performance, visual, and auditory improvements to this car. Thanks for making such high-quality parts right here in the USA, guys!
BRAKES / SUSPENSION

As I have the carbon ceramic (PCCB) package there really was very little to do with upgrades here since they perform so well on track. On my previous 991 GT3 I ran Girodisc 2-piece rotors with PCCB calipers but I felt I lost some performance because of the weight. With my 992 3RS I decided to stick with what’s tried and true – they are phenomenal! This car brakes harder than my Pikes Peak E46 BMW M3 which has a Bosch motorsport ABS so that is really saying something. The only thing I’ve changed on my 992 GT3RS is SRF brake fluid which is something I run on all of my race and track cars, and stainless braided lines from HEL Performance.

WHEELS / TIRES
I’m excited to be able to preview this update with my Soul friends and family first. I just got brand new Titan-7 T-S7 center lock one-piece forged aluminum wheels made in Iridium Silver finish in OEM spec so I can easily use tires that are designed for the car. With my new wheels, I’ll be mounting the new Pirelli Pzero Super Trofeo RS tires which are supposed to be even faster than the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2R. I can’t wait to test these at my home track of Sonoma Raceway soon and to be able to hear my full Soul Performance exhaust scream to 9,000 RPM!

Since this car is almost as fast as my Pikes Peak E46 BMW M3, I knew that I wanted to prioritize safety which is why I got SafeCraft 6-point harnesses and a very beefy roll-cage with extra gussetting. In order to sit comfortably with my helmet and HANS device on, I have Trackspec seat brackets which help get me to the right driving position.
