Description

DEVELOPMENT & SOUND:  The factory header design is a very simple, mass produced component not suited for performance. By creating a unique application for the 987.1 platform, we’ve focused on sizing the runners (1.75”) correctly and incorporated high quality spikes into the collectors to extract maximum power from the 3.4L engine while producing great gains from the 2.7L as well.

CONSTRUCTION:  Each 987.1 header set is assembled out of T304L stainless steel and rigorously quality checked in-house. Merge spikes are incorporated to smooth exhaust flow into the collector and increase power. Thick water jet cut flanges cut to ISO 9001:2015 standards ensure perfect fitment and product longevity.

HJS CATALYSTS:  We use the highest quality catalytic converters available, known for their industry–leading flow and durability. They are efficient enough to meet strict EURO 3 emission standards while still allowing for an increase in flow while greatly reducing the chance of getting a check engine light. The HJS HF design uses premium double foil winding for exceptional strength and durability.

BOLT ON AND GO:  Each set of catted headers is built and tested in a thick gauge aluminum fixture (which prevents warping) to ensure perfect fitment and then foam packed to ensure they arrive in perfect condition.. New high grade hardware is included for the header to exhaust flange.

LIFETIME WARRANTY:  Enjoy your SOUL exhaust components with confidence on both the street and track as they are covered by our Lifetime Warranty! Our team will quickly work with you to resolve any questions or issues that you may have.

Pulled the trigger a few weeks back and received, what I am told, the first commercial set of Soul Performance catted headers for my 987.1 CS. As all the others have shown at unboxing, they are a very nice piece of engineering and execution; a very pretty piece of equipment and a shame to hide under the car.

Install is as described elsewhere and not a very challenging upgrade. It took me about 4 hours on the lift, start to finish with about 3 hours of actual work taking my time and figuring out the angles to attack some of the bolts. After 102k miles, the header bolts came out with little resistance. I did soak with an acetone/ATF mixture for about 10 minutes. That stuff eats right through anything. Space to get at the 3 bolts on the exhaust flange to the cat back are a royal pain. Lot’s of extensions, universal joint combos to get at the ones inside. Probably would have been easier to loosen the rest of the muffler. Also installed new O2 sensors. Likely overkill but had been throwing codes for months.

Fitment is exact with what appears to be a very robust manifold flange and great, clean welds. Not to mention the matte finish. Again, should be seen AND heard.

Car sounded pretty nice with stock header and Carnewal. The SP header deepened the sound immensely. It is a very refined note that builds to a crescendo that rips the end of the exhaust tips. It is an amazing sound.

I run an OFT flash that seems to work well at freeing up the power and runs much, much better than stock. So far, the SP header seems a bit more free breathing using the power even a bit better. The car is very happy and winds to 7k quickly with little lag. Only butt dyno so no numbers to go with anything but a bigger grin.

Many, many thanks to John at Soul Performance. He pushed me over the edge to get them. It has taken me a couple of weeks to install as my travel schedule has been heavy. It hurt to walk past them sitting in the garage. Very thankful John got me into them. Great communication throughout the build and delivery.

Cayman Long Tube Street Headers 987.1
Well I waited just a bit too long replacing my AOS and covered the 3 cars behind me with a smoke screen so thick that I could no longer see them in the mirror! Time to upgrade. OEM cats likely shot as also the O2’s.
Having been thoroughly enjoying my SOUL cat-back exhaust on my ’06 CS MT
(and getting a new CC) I decided to order the street legal headers. I was sent pics of the actual manufacturing process…impressive. Didn’t take too long to receive them and in true form they were packed marvelously. I carried them around to work to show off, met with very positive comments about the build quality and finish. Got an appt on my friends lift and dug in. Well 8/10 mani bolts cooperated, the 2 %&^*s being in the worst position for repair. Love nor money could coax the snapped studs out. Day two, equipped with the proper helicoil-type kit, we got them fixed. I replaced all bolts and used hi-temp copper anti-seize. The balance of the install was uneventful…maybe two hours of careful thread chasing and viola. I didn’t even need to loose the existing exhaust as these headers were very, very precise. They have the pre and post bungs for the O2 sensors, originally I omitted the posts. W/O a remap (so far) she’s running like a jackrabbit. Seemed to bring the “4 barrel kick in” spot up about 300 RPM to about 5400. Very manageable tone for a DD. Overall a touch louder but more of a medium pitch howl going thru the underpasses of life. No discernible drone increase from OEM. I got 2 months of very nice driving with the system and now the snows have arrived in upstate NY…no further comment on this condition.
So, yes, buy these guys and go have fun! A ‘snap’ to install, very precise build quality and look marvelous (on a lift or thru the spokes)! Recommended A+

The sound in the video doesn’t do it justice. When you want it to be quiet it cooperates and when you get on it it’s much more raw & aggressive.

I love the way it sounds from inside and outside the car. No underpass is safe and unless it’s raining the windows are always down so I can get the full effect.

I just installed your long tube race headers on my 987.1s. The installed went well. I also purchased a Softronic race flash. After a few phone calls, we discovered an older Softronic Racing Plenum kit from 11 years ago that was still on the car, that the previous owner purchased when the car was under warranty. Scott then upgraded his software to take full advantage of of the older Softronic race kit, which includes, a 996 GT3 RS plenum, a GT3 78mm throttle body, EVOMS V flow intake and a recent install of Soul long tube competition headers. The result was dramatic with no mid range torque falloff. The engine really has an urgent feel to it now. I do not have a dyno, so just seat of the pants feeling and watching the tach move. The noise is different now with the headers, no cats and this tune. Much smoother delivery of power now and the tone is increasing in a liner manor, which in the past seemed to stumble mid range. Scott remapped the ECU with a gigantic Race file including, ignition advance, fuel delivery, vario plus camshaft, fuel octane and the intake resonance valve changes. I want to drive the car more often now, like taking my wife for a drive for example, haha.

Magnificent work to John and Scott for a very successful install and outcome.

It was a pleasure being at your place again, as always. The headers are great. I am enjoying them a lot. Sound is much better. Not louder but more sonourous. And the engine breathes significantly better around 4-5k rpm.

I have to think about what I can purchase next to enjoy the hospitality again 😊
