Description

DEVELOPMENT:  The GT4 is a masterfully built machine from Porsche. The 3.8L emits a distinct wail that is so incredible that it is begging to be amplified. Our Valved Exhaust System is designed to help you extract the most potential from your GT4 while still being streetable. While in quiet mode with the valves closed you will have a refined and sporty sound with no drone (with factory headers and high flow catted headers) at highway speeds and retain the ability to quietly enter and exit your neighborhood without annoying those around you thanks to the high quality mufflers. We know that a lot of owners plan on running catless headers on the street and minimizing drone was a goal of ours. Unlock the valves and you’ll be ready to turn off the radio, roll down the windows and hit your favorite back roads or go hard at the track. Every blip downshift will emit an incredible bark that will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.

CONSTRUCTION:  Each system is made from mandrel bent T304L stainless steel tubing (featuring 2.5″ OD over axle pipes) and features mufflers with fortified casings in the interest of durability. With valves closed the exhaust gasses are routed into the SOUL muffler, which is packed with high quality sound deadening material designed to withstand abuse and not blow out over time. The mufflers are incredibly effective at minimizing drone. Exhaust gasses make their way through the muffler and out through perforations into the outer piping. With valves open, exhaust gasses are now free to exit out through large 2.5″ piping while perforations allow exhaust gasses to “talk” with the muffler, encouraging a fuller, more robust tone. Choose from a variety of 321 stainless exhaust tips in different styles and finishes – or contact us to customize your own set! Titanium single wall tips are also available and save nearly a pound of weight over stainless steel tips!

BOLT ON AND GO:  Each exhaust is tested in a fixture to guarantee fitment and then foam packed to ensure it arrives in perfect condition. Thorough installation instructions are included in the box for a straightforward install that can be performed by most DIY enthusiasts. Valves are controlled by the existing valve button, our valve controller fobs, and are compatible with HomeLink!

LIFETIME WARRANTY:  Enjoy your SOUL exhaust components with confidence on both the street and track as they are covered by our Lifetime Warranty! Our team will quickly work with you to resolve any issues or answer any questions that you may have.

Nothing like a rush hour trip from Willow Grove to Upper Darby to check for exhaust drone. It’s just about perfect.

Unlike the original, it even sounds like an internal combustion engine with valves closed. And above 4k it even sounds good with valves closed. But with valves open it sounds great. Not quite as loud as Fabspeed, but also not as ragged and shriek-y. Better in all categories; sounds like a tuned engine.
AND THE DRONE IS GONE. It’s not quiet (which I didn’t want). You know the engine is running (which I did). But you also know what your passenger is saying. This is really what I wanted in the first place. Thank you.

I absolutely love the exhaust note thus far. My smile was cheek to cheek before the Soul exhaust but now it’s ear to ear. We’re all familiar with the classic wailing sound of the Porsche exhaust. It’s a nice exhaust note and some would say not to mess with it. However, to me, this is a sports car with a high performance engine in it and it deserves an aggressive note. After I spoke to the guys at Soul PP, they convinced me that I’d achieve a deeper note with their exhaust. I was skeptical at first but figured I had to take a chance at some point and at the end of the day, I deserve it. I’ll note that I didn’t want to change the shape of the note, just wanted a deeper tone and I think I achieved it with the Soul PP exhaust.

Anyhow, here is how the conversation went with the guy who installed it.

Installer (via phone): Sir, your car is ready.
    Me: How does it sound?
Installer: (giggles). Uhm, what were you looking for?
Me: A deeper sound; nothing obnoxious.
Installer: (giggles again), Uhm, it’s loud.
    Me: You mean really loud?
Installer: Good loud. You’ll have to see for yourself.

When I picked up my car, the installer was giddy. He said he used to own a GT3 and said it reminded him of that car. He said it was inspiring him to go pick up another Porsche. Videos don’t do it much justice but I can say that I’m turning more heads than I was before (could be good and bad). I had people coming pulling their window down at stop lights asking how I achieved that sound. I dropped my daughter off at her piano lesson and had people coming up to me expressing their appreciation for the sound (and car, of course). Lastly, I love how other cars just pull up to you expecting a race (I’m too old for that) off the line at a stop light (Mustangs, Maseratis, Jaguars, etc.)

    Pluses:
    -deeper sound
    -works with PSE button
-a little more aggressive sound even w/ PSE button off
    -no droning

    Constructive:
-While I like the angle tips, they are not flush to the bumper. They stick out an inch or two. Soul PP can correct me but I believe that if they shorten the tips, it may impact the sound.
-Need more options on the colors of tips. I have the satin finish. I know black is in the horizon and would have liked the black tips. Maybe Soul PP will swap these out for me =)

I also wanted to do headers but there are issues here in California and I didn’t want to go through the rigmarole of changing the headers at each test.

I also have the Soul cat back exhaust on another company’s headers. That company’s cat back was great at high revs, but had an oppressive drone between 2 and 3K. It made the car oppressive in regular driving. The Soul exhaust eliminates the drone, raises the PSE tone moderately up to 3.5K and gets positively grand from 4K on. I can’t imagine not including it with the header change. It reminds you why you bought a manual every time you shift.

The SOUL catback sounds soooooo GOOD! I cant imagine a better sound. I also went with a softronic tune which gave a mild but noticeable bump. Im not gonna do headers (for now) its a real PITA with California smog.
