Hey guys, my name is Cory Zepeda, I’m 28 and I’m from Fontana, CA. I got into Porsches when I was younger from playing a lot of racing video games. I bought my first Porsche – a 986 boxster – when I was 19 and had that one for 2 years. I upgraded to a 987.2 Cayman S when I turned 21. I decided to go with a Cayman “cup car” look. I’ve gone to quite a bit of Porsche events throughout the years and just fell in love with the different types of Porsche race cars whether it’s spec Boxsters/Caymans or 911 cup cars. I have taken my car to the track at least 4 times a year the last 4 years and its been nothing but reliable. I focused more on exhaust note, suspension and cosmetics. I have done every modification on my car myself in my garage which makes me feel more in tune with my car. I got in touch with SOUL back in 2021 and ended up ordering their Competition Headers. The car feels more alive, very aggressive at higher rpm and can also be very quiet on idle and cruising which to me is perfect.
EXHAUST / ENGINE / POWER
- Soul Performance Products Competition Headers – This was my second modification on my car. Headers was a must buy since I never bought them for my 986 Boxster. I always get asked what exhaust I have and I always gotta give credit to the Competition Headers for really making my exhaust note sound cup car-ish.
- Tubi Style Exhaust System – this muffler system came with the car and I haven’t upgraded yet. Paired with the soul competition headers, the exhaust note sounds insane.

BRAKES / SUSPENSION
- BC Racing BR series coilovers custom spec – Swift springs front and rear(6k front, 8k rear with 1k helper springs front and rear) camber plates front and rear
- Tarett adjustable sway bar end links front and rear
- Torque Solution front bump steer kit
- Spyder performance control arms with polyurethane bushings front and rear
- Rear adjustable toe and caster arms
- 964 RS engine mounts used as transmission mounts
- 997 GT3 master cylinder
- 997 Turbo brake booster
- Sebro slotted rotors
- Pagid RS44 brake pads
- RBF 600 brake fluid
- 997 GT3 brake ducts
The BC coilovers were my first mod when I bought the car. I ended up rebuilding my coilovers 4 years later to what I felt was right. I was able to test both the “stock” br series to the specs I built them to at the track. It took me a while to dial in the new setup before hitting the track and it was a huge difference. The stock br series doesn’t account for bump and droop travel and with my new setup, I was able to dial in both bump and droop travel. I don’t bottom out or make contact anywhere on my car on this setup. All the other suspension components all work together. I like driving my car low while also wanting to track it so stiffer swift springs really help, 6k and 8k is just enough for weekend driving and occasional track. Mind you this car was my daily driver for 5 years! The car feels much more planted.
WHEELS / TIRES
I really like the Work Meister M1 – it’s a wheel you don’t see too much in the Porsche community. I went with an aggressive fitment front and rear to have a clean look. I run a 7mm spacer up front because I have 997 cup flares to tie in that “cup car” look. I don’t have any issues with rubbing. I went with 18in wheels because the smaller wheels look better and they’re also better on track because you can run a meatier tire.
- Work Meister M1 – 18×8.5 +34 (7mm spacer added up front) 18×10 +27
- Falken FK510 Tires – 245/40R18 and 285/35R18
- Rennline Wheel Studs

INTERIOR / SAFETY
- Bride x Narita dogfight bucket seats paired with PCI seat mount with sliders
- RSS harness bar with fire extinguisher
- 997 research oil temp, oil pressure, coolant temp and PDK temp gauge(replaces sports chrono clock)
- 95b macan steering wheel with magnetic paddle shifters
- Alcantara headliner
- Master tailgaters rear view mirror with rear view camera
- Pioneer head unit
My car was only spec’d with sports chrono and that was it, so I didn’t really mind swapping out almost everything on my car starting with the seats. The bucket seats were definitely a nice find and I didn’t want to put recaro seats since you see that on every Porsche out there. The bride seats are definitely a nice touch paired with the PCI seat mounts and sliders. I had the button steering wheel so upgrading steering wheels was a must do. Your headliner is gonna fail eventually so I ended up having to reupholster mine myself. My FAVORITE mod has got to be my 997 research oil temp, oil pressure, coolant temp and PDK temp gauge. It hooks directly to canbus and gives you real time feedback, a must have mod for any car that sees track time. Our rear view mirror sucks so I replaced it with something a bit bigger and useful.
EXTERIOR/ AERO
The front lip market for 987.2 is rough. I didn’t really like any out there but the Caymans in Japan did it right. I contacted checkshop inc (based in Japan) on Instagram and we ended up meeting in person in CA so I could purchase their front lip. By far my favorite mod. It resembles a 997 GT3 front lip but on a Cayman. The wing and cup flares give me that cup car look which is what I wanted, also helps with track width and downforce since the wing is adjustable. The custom OEM clear tail lights is another favorite cosmetic mod of mine. You definitely don’t see it too often.
- Kohlenstoff Front Lip from Japan (checkshop inc)
- Getty Design interseries wing with taller uprights, 63” wing and carbon end plates
- Maxton design side skirts
- 997.2 cup flares OEM
- Inozetek vinyl wrap ultra violet purple
- Custom OEM clear tail lights
