Description

DEVELOPMENT:  We at SOUL have had ample time around many exhaust configurations for the 987.1 and set out to build the ideal setup for enthusiasts. We decided on this design as it offers an incredible sound when you have the pedal down, but it is VERY refined when driving around town. The SOUL mufflers practically eliminate droning – even with aftermarket catless headers the sound is reserved during partial throttle! No valves necessary – we are confident that our system is a solid option for those who like it loud when it’s appropriate but reserved around town. Expect no check engine lights, only a grin every time you accelerate.

CONSTRUCTION:  Each system is made from mandrel bent T304L stainless steel tubing and features mufflers with fortified casings in the interest of durability. Aftermarket Boxster/ Cayman exhaust hangers / supports are often prone to cracking and failing – SOUL fortified brackets prevent any damage during extended street use and track days. Choose from a variety of 321 stainless exhaust tips in different styles and finishes – or contact us to customize your own set! Titanium single wall tips are also available and save nearly a pound of weight over stainless steel tips!

BOLT ON AND GO:  Each exhaust is rigorously quality-checked, tested in a fixture to ensure perfect fitment, and then foam packed to ensure it arrives in perfect condition. New high grade hardware is included for the header to exhaust flanges. Thorough installation instructions are included in the box for a straightforward install that can be performed by most DIY enthusiasts.

LIFETIME WARRANTY:  Enjoy your SOUL exhaust components with confidence on both the street and track as they are covered by our Lifetime Warranty! Our team will quickly work with you to resolve any issues or answer any questions that you may have.

NOTE:  This product is not CARB certified and may not be legal for use on emissions controlled vehicles; intended for off road use only

Would like to make a mention to SOUL Performance for the amazing quality and excellent customer service. This Pennsylvania based company recently opened a brand new state of the art facility in Willow Grove. From the point I showed up til the time I was ready to come pick the car up, they gave me step by step updates on everything they were doing with the car. The quality of the exhaust is second to none and the sound couldn’t be better. The car received the cat-less competition headers along with the back section with a upgraded muffler to reduce the drone. The tone is absolutely amazing, and the drive ability of this exhaust is amazing. I would recommend them to anyone.

Couldn’t be happier with the entire experience with Soul. The full kit shipped the same day as order, the personalization (our Boost Brothers Garage logo) was gorgeous, and the customer service was top notch!

The install went very smoothly and the sound is intoxicating, amazing when I lay into it and doesn’t drone like they promised!

By far the nicest and best sounding exhaust I’ve dealt with for P-Cars!

Those who are reading this may consider my perspective quite the anomaly, or perhaps if you are coming from a similar angle, this could give “proper” insight into Soul Performance Products and the aura of quality that they emit. Either way, I believe there is value to be absorbed regardless of your initial plan of attack.

Let me start by explaining that I originate from a bias that all Porsche exhausts are overpriced and take our elegant German masterpieces from top shelf sound with a side of heavy restriction, to loud, uncomplimentary, and debilitating exhaust notes. I don’t have to throw names or brands out there but if you thought “Oh god” when you saw the price of an aftermarket exhaust(s) for a Porsche than we’re likely on the same page. I wholeheartedly understand your pain. Let me anchor that down by noting I have multiple vehicles with LOUD exhausts, and prefer them that way. The volume doesn’t disturb me, it’s more so the fact that the stock Porsche 987.1 S exhaust sound is PERFECT to me aside from the fact that it sounds too congested, restricted, restrained. I’m no Porsche or brand fanboy, just hunting the right kit for the right car.

After a combination of understanding the incompetency the exhaust market had to offer for my 2008 Porsche Cayman 987.1 S, and experience with successfully welding custom exhaust systems on other personal vehicles of mine, I was adamant on taking the valiant path of creating my own monstrosity of a loud, aggressive, high volume exhaust to calibrate the correct sound I desired. Mind you that, this would be at much lower of a price than the MSRP most aftermarket company’s offer. I was aware the engineering would take some time, trial, and error, but It would have made for great content on the channel for my media company, Supercars of Philadelphia, and for me to look back and watch a video of me installing it thinking “wow, I am an imbecile.”

    WELL, THEN I FOUND SOUL.

I’ll be honest, because I don’t want anyone else making this mistake. I saw some exhaust videos on the internet, and thought “Hm.. they sound better than all of the others but I’m still not quite impressed to the level I need to be at, for overpriced, bent metal.” (At this point I was unaware of the price point, merely assuming, since every other exhaust system for my car was worth an uninsured pancreas transplant, that this company was no different). Lord was I wrong. The sub $4k price point for the FULL COMPETITION EXHAUST intrigued me – which led to moonlit conversation with my first point of contact at Soul; Evan. Alright, it wasn’t moon-lit, we just spoke over the phone, but it felt like it. Even with 25+ years of total industry experience, it is rather easy to fall into the mindset that Soul Performance is a customer service company first, Exhaust Engineering Aficionado second, and that’s no discount to their products. The Customer Service is just that good. (By the way – No exhaust video does this exhaust justice; you have to hear it in person.)

A few healthy conversations later, I was at the Soul Performance Products Headquarters watching my perfectly stock 987.1 S get its exhaust scavenged off of its underbelly by their Porsche technicians. I verb scavenge due to the excessively surprising rate at which these gentleman removed my exhaust (although it was more of a sophisticated dance considering it went so smoothly). It’s almost as if they’ve done this before…. Wait, they have… quite often.

Once the exhaust was installed and on my car, I couldn’t wait to hear it. It doesn’t matter how many 987.1S I could’ve heard this exhaust on in person, on the internet, through tinder, anywhere – It’s just different hearing it on your own car. I just had to, because that’s totally a thing, no? The difference realistically was miniscule being I could’ve heard the exhaust on a thousand other 987.1S set up just as mine (stock) and It would’ve sounded nearly identical but that is where similarities end.

The new competition system on my vehicle roared, granted we were indoors and acoustics were offering a much better delivery of audible euphoria, yet once we got outdoors to tell earth I was back, and get a first impression of the situation while being primary in the cockpit, It was a totally different feel. You see, I’m quite familiar with loud vehicles, proper sounding, loud vehicles. Gallardo, Huracan, 599, f430, 458, MP4-12C, F-Type-R, Shelby; you would agree the clarity of the exhaust note these vehicles emit is on another level. Well, after this Soul Full Comp Package Exhaust System was installed on my car, I no longer own a “Cayman”. It’s properly fitted as a Porsche In my eyes now, and carries the sound to boot, to stand along side any Ferrari, Lamborghini, 911 GT Car, etc., and blend right in, if not surpass them in levels of excitement. The added power gains are noticeable as well, quite so.

It doesn’t end there; I was able to experience the exhaust that weekend on a rally from NJ to Maryland & back and pilot the car through some proper roads where I could comb through the gearbox with little clutter. Being grateful for the opportunity, I kept finding new excitement with every acceleration, downshift, anything. It’s amazing how an exhaust note can make you feel so much more connected to the car. This would be due to the lack of delay between commands and how the vehicle responds, and speaks back to you through the exhaust, compared to stock.

To summarize the polarizing changes SOUL has made to the car, because I doubt you want to read much further, and I’ll be surprised if anyone has even made it this far, I’ll end with disclosing that this exhaust stays true to the sound of a Flat Six Porsche Engine, it merely enunciates, personifies everything you loved about the stock exhaust, and deletes what you may have not noticed you didn’t like (the muffled tone, quiet shifts, restricted personality and characteristics that the car did have stock, but a bunch of catalytic something and metal boxes called “mufflers” held it back). If you are on the fence about making the move to this exhaust, or any component of it, because you want to custom build something yourself, or you still think they all sound similar and are overpriced, do yourself a favor and invest in you, your car, and your future experiences spent together. Besides, you already spent enough time reading this all the way through, how have you not convinced yourself by now that this is the ONLY way to go?

Solid build, superior fitment and high quality components!
Replacing a (loud) 2 separate pipe speed-shop-special with the Soul cat-back system on my 2006 Cayman S…too many 5am commutes thru small town cop-ville inspired the purchase. Glad I did. Having been around cars & exhaust upgrades for 3 decades, I’ve heard the word “tuned exhaust” in the past.
    This system DELIVERS!
Almost a musical mix, well balanced and blended. I would say BOLD in sound but certainly manageable at low speed/RPM. Coming off the screamer exhaust I had on her, I really am not disappointed in the sound level. I’m driving differently (better) not having to worry about sound levels so much. I would say 80% drone reduction hill climbing in the 2-3k range. Seat-of-the-pants dyno tells me she pulls a bit more crisply, she likes the balanced back-pressure that was absent before.
Customer service and support is unsurpassed, questions answered promptly, adjustment of parts shipped immediately. Highly recommended!
I would say save some of your lunch money and DO IT!
Get the best, you won’t regret it.

Fit this system up to my 06 CS MT. Agreed..wonderful build quality and packed so well it took 15 minutes just to liberate it from the box!
It replaced a ‘speed-shop-special’ that was wicked above 3g on the flats…friends would have me blip it in their driveway, elbow each other and just smile. Unfortunately it was dreadful pulling up my small town hills at the 35mph speed limit during my pre-dawn commute. Droned so bad, lights in houses were snapping on as I passed! After buying the OEM over-engineered Porsche mounting system that was missing from my current 2-pt rubber hanger setup, I finally put this system on. Apart from 5/6 snapped studs the install went well. Fired her up and what a difference!

I would say the sound is still ‘bold’ but it allows me to drive differently (better) and my s-o-t-p dyno seems to like the shared back pressure at the tip crossover (clever). Old system was 2 separate pipes with glass pak looking muffs welded at 45 degrees to the hacked off OEM exhaust piping. I must say the drone was reduced 80% along the same route. Jacking it up on the I-890 cloverleaf and blasting onto the highway (never over 55 I am most satisfied. Still can rattle the bridge hardware when passing under but most tame hitting the city streets beyond. I can even hear the other noises she makes now (that I didn’t know where there) and the radio…well I can hear it now!
Most recommended! And I, too, have been monkeying with exhaust since the 70’s. Best sound since my ’72 BB Chevelle SS! Excellent support (thnx John) and rapid response to any questions/issues. I am impressed! I can absolutely recommend this system for the 987.1.

I did the 987 Soul cat-back last season and it has held up perfectly, excellent customer service and completes the ‘look’ I was going for nicely.
I chose the satin X pipe tips on the set and screams quality, impressive when an American company can still produce world-class products.
Cost? well I never looked back once it was delivered and installed, it was the right choice and, as said, is in alignment with other exhaust vendor pricing. This is one of the ‘you get what you pay for’ examples that still exist. Go for it!

GUYS I LOVE THIS! The Borla was too much with my headers and you weren’t lying, definitely more civil and I can drive the car more comfortably now. My wife also thanks ya.

I just want to share the great experience I had with Soul. I ordered the cat back exhaust for my 987.1 which I installed with a friend in only a couple hours. The parts are beautifully finished and went on super easily. The sound is incredible as well. A really high quality tone and in my opinion a perfect volume. Drone at highway speeds is near zero and not obnoxious at all and it absolutely screams up top. I haven’t had the car for that long but I wish I had done it sooner. Mike was also extremely helpful throughout the entire process and answered all my questions and just exceeded all my expectations for customer service. If you’re on the edge about getting a system you just have to do it, I love mine.

Exhaust Report – sounds fantastic in person. No drone at all! Just a little groan when you get on it between 2k – 3k RPMS. Highly recommend Soul Performance. They’ve been fantastic!

Just thought I would let the fine folks at Soul know that I received a lot of complements on their exhaust this last weekend from others in a two day rally & tour I participated in. A number of 911 owners (new and old) said the exhaust was the best they’ve ever heard on a flat 6 and the look of the round tips was a very nice finish to the rear of my Cayman.

At one point I needed to make an expedited left turn onto a two lane highway and quickly get up to speed from a dead stop. At the next rest stop the owner of an ’89 911 that was behind me, walked up to me with a big grin on his face and said the roar of my car was music to his ears.

Now I just need to save some more $ to get the catted, long tube headers.

I replaced a ‘custom’ system on my 06 CS MT with the SOUL cat back. With the old system, I was literally in fear of early morn tickets on a rather large climb up from the Mohawk River. Overall the SOUL system eliminated the excessive ‘drone’ although probably any exhaust can be held at a drone rpm. Once cut loose, the SOUL system sang a wonderful howl-tune! I have since added one of the first cat-headers they offered. The whole system is wonderful. Precise build, top quality materials and superior customer service.

Thanks to Paul and the crew at Soul, the exhaust was installed at their shop today. Everyone there was great and the hour ride back home was even better. I couldn’t be happier with their product, service and fairness. Looking forward to seeing you guys again at Hershey in April.

I had the Soul Performance exhaust (catback), BMC air filter, and Softronic tune installed yesterday on my 2007 CS. I first drove the car after the exhaust/filter install. The car felt noticeably faster across the rev range, not night and day, but definitely noticeable. Deletion of secondary cats/improved flow/15 lbs lighter weight/clean high-flow filter can all be attributed. A 10 bhp bump is not overreaching IMO. Saying the sound is improved is beating a dead horse. That’s not debatable. I then had the tune installed. After 30-50 miles, after the ECU adapts, my car again felt noticeably faster. I think the ~20 bhp claim is about right. Additionally, throttle response is sharper (as if the NA Cayman needs better throttle response) and the engine revs more freely. Even those who are hesitant about the whole “tuning” aspect should give it a shot. I’m very confident in its safety. Softronic has been creating these “one of one” custom files for years.

I now have a Cayman that has the power of a 981S while retaining the analog feel and features (hydraulic steering rack FTW) and feel of a 987S. Next up: the Soul street headers for what many say, is a significant power increase.
