Jon at Flat 6 Motorsports, a premiere SOUL dealer, has built a true weapon for the street and track.
“I liked the balance of the Cayman and its lightweight architecture. I was inspired to show other 981 owners what is possible with some simple bolt-on modifications. After doing all the basics the car was fun to drive but on track, the 2.7L was no match for more powerful cars like the 911 and Corvette. I came across a 3.8L X51 out of a wrecked 991 GTS with fairly low mileage. I had always hoped Porsche would put 450 HP in the Cayman and thought it was time to do it myself. After refreshing the motor and making the swap work, the car has significantly transformed the driving experience. Torque is abundant across the entire power band and it pulls like a GT3 above 5K RPMs. I consistently get asked about the Soul Performance exhaust whether it was the 2.7L or the 3.8L. It has a lot more beef and depth now but has always sounded very aggressive and motorsports-inspired while maintaining a comfortable sound when cruising. I look forward to adding some aero bits and getting a proper seat for the track inside. The current package is sort of a “touring” version of a GT4 RS if Porsche made one. “
